Remediation Pilot Testing Applications

Remediation Application: Pilot Testing

Pilot testing can be done for a number of remediation processes such as Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE), Dual Phase Extraction (DPE), and Air Sparging.

Soil Vapor Extraction Pilot Testing consists of the same equipment that is used for soil vapor extraction but on a smaller scale. Soil Vapor Extraction Pilot Testing equipment is typically a fraction of the size of the full scale SVE system and is designed for 1-2 wells. The equipment is typically small and portable for ease of transportation and is intended to be powered by a generator. The test consists of operating the vacuum blower or pump at different vacuum levels while monitoring the radius and level of influence at nearby monitoring wells. For more information regarding the equipment used for soil vapor extraction, please reference our application guide on soil vapor extraction.

Air Sparge Pilot Testing consists of the same equipment that is used for air sparging but on a smaller scale. Air Sparge Pilot Testing equipment is typically a fraction of the size of the full scale Air Sparge system and is designed for 1-2 wells. The equipment is typically small and portable for ease of transportation and is intended to be powered by a generator. The test consists of operating the blower or compressor at different pressure levels while monitoring dissolved oxygen, radius and level of influence in nearby monitoring wells. For more information regarding the equipment used for air sparging, please reference our application guide on air sparging.

Dual Phase Extraction Pilot Testing consists of the same equipment that is used for dual phase extraction but on a smaller scale. Dual Phase Extraction Pilot Testing equipment is typically a fraction of the size of the full scale DPE system and is designed for 1-2 wells. The equipment is typically small and portable for ease of transportation and is intended to be powered by a generator. Enviro-Equipment builds mobile multi phase extraction (MMPE) or aggressive fluid vapor recovery (AFVR) trailers that can be rented or purchased for DPE pilot testing. The DPE pilot test consists of operating the vacuum blower or pump at different vacuum levels while monitoring the radius and level of influence at nearby monitoring wells. The amount of fluid produced from each well is also monitored and often times need to be treated. Please read our application guide on groundwater treatment for more information regarding how to treat the liquid generated from DPE Pilot testing. For more information regarding the equipment used for dual phase extraction, please reference our application guide on dual phase extraction.
