As an Environmental Consultant for an international consulting company in the 1980’s and 90’s, Cofounder Brian E. Chew, Sr. P.G. noticed the lack of a reputable environmental instrument rental and supply company in the Southeast. Cofounder and spouse, Denise Chew, started Enviro-Equipment, Inc. (EEI) in 1993 in the basement of their home in Pineville, NC. Two years later the company became a North Carolina certified "Woman-Owned Business Enterprise". In 1995 EEI also moved out of the basement and into a 6,000 sq ft commercial space in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In response to a growing need for environmental remediation equipment, EEI moved into a 10,000 sq ft warehouse in 2004 and opened a Remediation Division in Pineville, NC. Having Brian, a former Environmental Consultant specialized in petrochemical remediation, on staff made the transition into the remediation area a natural addition. In 2009, EEI became certified by Met Labs to build Control panels in accordance with UL Standards. Also in 2009, the Remediation Division began to manufacture its own knockout tanks and carbon vessels. EEI built up a huge inventory of used remediation equipment. They began building remediation systems to customer specifications using new or used equipment or a combination of both. Field installation and remediation O&M services were also added. In 2011 EEI became the sole manufacturer of the OxyGreen Corporation patented enhanced bioremediation system in the United States.
Environmental consultants, industrial hygienist, plant engineers, health and safety coordinators, and Federal, State and County regulators came to depend on EEI for clean, accurate, and recently calibrated equipment. They also depended on the on-time delivery for quick access to the equipment and products. EEI was built on quality products, quality rentals, and professional information services to the environmental, ecological and manufacturing industries.
