Casella 400 Series Overview
The new CEL-400 series is an advanced and comprehensive instrument family for a wide range of applications. It has been designed for convenience and ease of use in many popular tasks. From simple workplace noise surveys to full community noise audits the new CEL-400 can do it quickly and easily. Advanced digital signal processing technology enable the meters in the range to cover the whole audible sound range in a single span. This eliminates the need to select the best range for a measurement since everything is covered from the quietest quiet to the loudest loud.

Casella 450 Overview
The CEL-450 is a new concept in sound level meters offering the power of digital signal processing (DSP) technology in a small lightweight unit. The instrument provides all the features of a broadband meter while simultaneously offering the ability to measure noise levels in whole or third octave bands across a wide range of frequencies that cover the whole audible range. There are 6 models in the family covering the requirements of ANSI standards in the type 1 and type 2 categories. Datalogging is provided as standard and download and control software completes the popular kits.

 |
Applications
The major benefit of the CEL-450 is the ease with which it can make full range noise selecting the right range in difficult situations such as those noise parameters encountered with transient sources. These can include impacts, pass-by testing of vehicles, flyover tests for aircraft, shooting ranges and other similar noise difficult to measure sources. The ultra wide dynamic range of 140 dB means that it not necessary to worry about selecting the right range as the meter is always on the right range. Noise parameters such as the max, min, average, peak etc. can be enabled or disabled depending upon the exact requirements of the task in hand. Data log the results from 10 msec to 30 minutes to collect history of the level changes. |
 |
Operation and Use
The new CEL-450 could not be any easier to use. It allows the user to configure the measurements according to the most used settings and will remember them in a non-volatile memory ready for the next time. Simply choose the appropriate frequency and time weightings and data logging interval and save them in one of four User Setup stores. A factory default Setup comes as standard with the most often used settings already saved. Calibrate the input using an acoustic device and the meter is ready to go. Up to 999 separate measurements can be stored and recalled or downloaded to the included dB23 software. 11 full octaves or 33 third octave spectra can be captured in real time ensuring that none of the signal is missed compared to sound level meters with switching filters. |

Casella 490 Overview
The CEL-490 is the ultimate instrument for long term community noise measurements where wide changes in levels are expected to occur. Previous generations of noise meters require the user to make a decision on the likely noise levels to be expected during the measurement. Select too high a range and the low background levels will be missed. Choose to low a range and the important peak levels will cause overloads and consequent errors. The single 140 dB range available in the CEL-490 enable worry free measurements over the whole audio range without changing range. A wide range and all the frequency information collected simultaneously with the power of DSP filters. |

Applications
The CEL-490 comes into its own for difficult noise applications when rapid data recording is required. Spectral data capture as fast as 10 millisec per octave or third octave band spectrum ensures that even the most difficult transient sounds will be measured correctly with no loss of acoustic data integrity. Remote control of the full operation of the meter from a pc using the included dB23 software enables stored runs to be quickly downloaded and the start and stop of new measurements to be made with a few mouse clicks. Connection can be direct by the included pc cable or by regular and GSM modems. |
 |
Operations and Use
Every CEL-490 comes with a factory default measurement setup pre-configured for ready to go measurements. Additionally, up to 4 user-defined setups can be stored for specific measurement needs with a few or as many parameters chosen from the extensive list in order to customize the way a measurement is captured.
Community noise surveys can cover a total of 24 hours for a single run with hourly period results plus 1 minute profile data saved to show more detail. Up to 999 separate runs can be stored with up to 99,999 periods per run. Four key parameters can be saved as short time history profiles for traditional graphic level recorder operation.
Simple noise surveys can be captured with the overall A, C and Z weighted level plus all 33 third octave bands for continuous or impulsive noise sources making this an ideal instrument the professional acoustics engineer. Statistical noise parameters such as the Ln10% and Ln90% levels are measured in broadband and third octaves.
