Enviro-Equipment, Inc. and AEG Carolinas Section Offers Free Environmental Equipment Training to Geologists and Geology Students

Environmental Equipment TrainingCharlotte, NC, April 6, 2011--Enviro-Equipment, Inc., a leading supplier of environmental sampling equipment and supplies, held a free training seminar at their lab in Charlotte, NC on Saturday, March 19, 2011. Sponsored by the Carolinas Section of The Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists (AEG) to provide educational opportunities for its members, the program was presented to environmental professionals from major consulting companies, as well as Geology students from local universities.

Attendees gained insight into real-world applications and examples for environmental assessment using the most up to date instrumentation.  They received hands-on instruction from Enviro-Equipment’s experienced scientists as they discussed how to properly place an equipment order, operate, calibrate, care for the selected equipment, and troubleshoot problems from the field.    Stephen Rachide, a Geology student at the UNCC explained, “As a student, the opportunity for hands on experience has been limited.  The course provided me with a depth of understanding that my studies have been unable to provide. The staff was awesome and very knowledgeable.”  Attendees also enjoyed breakfast and lunch provided by Enviro-Equipment during the 4 hour session.

The focus of the program included both principles and hands-on activities associated with various types of environmental rental equipment including a ProActive 12-volt submersible sampling pump, a Horiba water quality meter, a RAE System MiniRAE 3000 Photoionization Detector, as well as field sampling supplies.  Testing scenarios were demonstrated for environmental pollutants that might be present at job sites.

“This was a wonderful opportunity for AEG Members, and especially AEG Student Members, to get free hands-on training with the instrumentation and tools applied in everyday environmental consulting”, stated Brian E. Chew, Vice President of Enviro-Equipment.  Chew is a licensed Professional Geologist himself and has been an active member of the AEG Carolinas for over 25 years.  “Enviro-Equipment is proud to be a Platinum Plus sponsor of the AEG Carolinas.  The AEG has been important to my career and I want to do everything I can to help the organization support its members," Chew added. Enviro-Equipment is already planning future training sessions covering environmental remediation equipment.
